Please see below an update on the ongoing junction improvement works at the A6120/A61 Moortown roundabout and Harrogate Road/Scott Hall Road junctions.

Our previous communications stated the commissioning of the new traffic signals would be in operation from the 20th November. We have experienced one of the wettest autumns on record which has delayed the works over the past few weeks. We have also re-coordinated the footway surfacing areas to days instead of nights. Both of these elements have led to ongoing re-scheduling of specialist sub-contractor works and knock on delay to the laying of road markings and paving works due to the wet weather.

As ever the weather continues to challenge our efforts but we are now programming to commission the new traffic signals switch on at the A6120/A61 Harrogate Road roundabout on Wednesday the 11th December 2019 and then commission the traffic signals on the A61 Harrogate Road/Scott Hall Road/Stonegate Road junctions on the 17th December 2019. There will be a period of time after this where our in-house Urban Traffic Management & Control (UTMC) team will continue to monitor the operation of these new signals ensuring they are running in the most efficient manner.

The weather has also affected the off-peak work delaying the completion of a number of hard landscaped areas. This means that there will be a need for a continuation of off-peak traffic management to allow the safe completion of such hard landscaping which will then allow the completion of the surfacing to the footways and cycle ways that have yet to be completed. This is currently programmed to be completed on Friday 13th December.

The soft landscaping is of high importance to us at these junctions and our Parks & Countryside team are looking to maximise the current planting season working closely with the Moortown in Bloom team.
